Here's the story with the varying quality of customer service and wait times for food: this place is a husband and wife team. The wife cooks/runs the entire kitchen, the husband runs everything else. As in life, when one isn't happy in a team, the other isn't happy and the team suffers. Just like the reality TV shows about failing restaurants with high-strung owners, Central PA has it's very own! It's just not famous... Food quality: very good (PS you get your Boom-boom sauce from Sheetz, don't lie), quantity was decent, however...for the price, they just don't match the quality. Everything was good. The server was very friendly. The husband (co-owner) was upfront about the kitchen being backed up, and our server apologized for the "long wait" even though our wait time wasn't out of the norm for a crowded restaurant. Good eats, high price. Come for the food, stay for the drama!

Arrived at 10 PM with six friends. Grabbed a couple of beverages at the Ba r and went to the deck. Two wait people passed through neither checked on us (we were the only ones there). The Young man made it clear that he gets to go home when we leave. Not too worry young man we won't be back to keep you late again.

Overpriced mediocre food. $16 is way too much for a growler fill. The 3 pines is right down the street.

I was part of a large group that went to Cassels on Sunday afternoon . as stated earlier no we didn't call ahead it was a last minute deal but when we arrived there were only two tables with customers and a few people at the bar. We were greeted by a manager who was upset we didn't call ahead and had a poor attitude. The waitress was rude and it was clear she was unhappy about serving us. We did consider leaving but she said they called in more help. Service-poor, food was overpriced and fair . We were not concerned about the amount of time it took for the food as we knew we had a group but not once did our waitress ask if we needed drink refills and everyone at my end of the table had empty glasses. One man finally asked for a refill and she took his glass and no one else's We will not being going back.

With all the great places to eat in the area and being as close to Carlisle, Pa. as they are you would figure this place would be better than it is. Went there on 03/22/15 with a group after we were part of a charity bowling event and when we showed up to a virtually empty bar empty for the size of the room, the manager got upset with us for not calling ahead and made us feel unwelcome. We waited a few minutes and they gave us a private room and the waitress had an attitude to us so bad we started calling around to find a new place to go to. The waitress reluctantly convinced us to stay, because they called in another waitress on her day off, and you could tell they only wanted us to stay, because they called in more help, not because they valued our business. The food was overpriced and just o.k. and the beer was definitely overpriced. the beer I ordered, I had at another bar earlier in the week and paid $5.50 there and it was Almost $7.50 there. With the price, attitude, and food quality, I don't believe I will return there unless with friends and it is their idea, but will suggest other places if they do.

Way overpriced, food wasn't that good, and outside deck was too loud. I will never eat there again. We had high hopes but I left hungry with a large dent in my wallet. I usually give a restaurant 2 chances before I give a bad review but I can't afford to go back.

Have eaten here multiple times and the service and the food was excellent. The scallops and prime rib are exceptional and worth the price. Emily was our waitress last week and she was very attentive. Will continue going here. Don't understand the negative reviews!

I feel like Castles could be a very good restaurant if they put the effort in they claim (at least on the website). I read "fresh meat from the butcher daily" but the 2 times I ordered cheeseburgers, weeks apart, they were both extremely freezer burnt. It honestly looks extremely appetizing, like it had potential to be a great burger and fries, until the patty met my palette. I have had amazing cheese fries from them and I can't say much about the rest of their selection since I am a burger extraordinaire.

Watched a pens game while we were in the area. Food was good and they had a good beer selection.

Great food, nice people, good service and the best Mojito I have ever had! Family owned. We are not from this area but we are here a lot in the summer and we always come here. Their chips, salmon and wings are the best. Enjoy

Great small family restaurant. Good food, great craft beer on tap! The waiter and waitress we had on our last 2 visits were very knowledgeable about the beer selection and also very attentive. Love their homemade potato chips and steak cut sweet potato fries! On our last visit,my husband had a great hamburger, and I had a fantastic Cuban pulled pork sandwich. They also serve dinner entrees to include steak and seafood selections that looked great too at the tables around us. Think I have found my new favorite local restaurant!

Really enjoyed my recent visit to Cassell's Grille! We reserved a couple tables in the back room for a family get together meal over the holidays - service was great ... lovely roomy back room for everyone to circulate and catch up. I'm a enjoy learning about and drinking micro-brews and appreciated the detailed descriptions on the beer menu. The food was outstanding! I had the prime rib which was a huge and delicious slab of beef cooked to perfection (probably one of the few places where I have had medium rare cooked correctly). Everyone else's food looked great as well - I particularly wanted to taste the cuban pork and the deliciious looking sweet potato fries. Sadly I don't live in the area, so can't visit regularly. But this place will be our first choice for family get-togethers or when traveling in the area. Highly recommend!

The food and drinks are decent, but way overpriced. My friend and I stopped for drinks one night. We are both in our twenties and were looking to have a fun time. The place was empty by ten o'clock. The bartender was sweeping up as we were sitting at the bar. We ordered two appetizers, which were about eight/nine dollars each. More what I would expect to pay for my meal. AND I have had a meal there before. I felt kind of ripped off when it came time for the check. Don't get me wrong, the food is good. Just not good enough for their prices.

Can I give no stars? This place is horrible- from the people to the cleanliness to the food! This is one of the most disgusting places I've ever been. I wonder if this place even meets health code standards. The food is revolting, the people are beyond rude (I didn't believe that it really could be as bad as the other reviewers said it could be, but it was actually worse), and the facilities are run down and gross. It's too bad the people who work at Cassells probably don't know how to use a computer, otherwise they might take their customer's (and former customers) complaints and concerns into consideration.

Have only been here maybe two times. Food is really good, but way over priced. And the service/staff/owners are very short with the customers, act like they could care less and almost seem like they wish you would just go away.... I would NOT recommend.

We had a bad experience the moment we walked in the door, and opted not to stay for dinner so we can't comment on the food. The owner greeted us at the door, about 5:30 on a Saturday evening. The room was nearly empty and he offered "pick a table." So my wife pointed to a booth and he said, 'that's reserved. You can sit here or here,' pointing to two tables that looked like they'd been picked up at a yard sale. We have no explanation for the attitude that he projected, but we felt like he was saying 'here's your seats, take it or leave it.' So after a few minutes' deliberation we left. The owner didn't notice as he was watching TV when we walked by him on the way out. We followed up with a phone call right back to the restaurant explaining why we had left and how we felt insulted by the treatment. There was no apology although it was explained to us that a large party was coming any minute to claim all the booths. Which meant that not only were we seated at the yard sale tables but were about to be surrounded by a private party without fair warning or apology. Nice. And instead of offering an apology for the unwarranted attitude, the owner was condescending on the phone. Maybe you have to be a regular customer or a local to get good service there. Fortunately we found a Perkins a few miles south and had a great dining experience there.

Just always a fun evening. As an addition to my previous review, they have this killer homemade gorgonzola dressing.. Another bonus is the Smithwick's on tap.

Once again disappointed....nice bar inside but food is OK at best and overpriced for where they are located and quality of the food. Does anyone know where to go for some good HOMEMADE food in Central PA?
